Rambo II: “Find them, or I’ll find you”

“…For our country to love us, as much as we love it!”

This time, they made their biggest mistake: Rambo. After Colonel Trautman (Richard Crenna) recruited John (Sylvester Stallone) from prison (after the damage he’d done in Rambo I), they proceeded to gamble with a suspicious mission to save American POW’s (Prisoners of War) in Vietnam, headed by Officer Murdock (Charles Napier). The original mission was to only take pictures of the prisoners to prove their existence.

With fists of steel but with a heart of a noble soldier, Rambo set off to at least save one POW for proof. He met Co (Julia Nickson), a woman Vietnamese rebel along the way and guided him to the place. Surprisingly enough, the camp was empty and John felt the whole mission was a trap, with the government waiting for him to make a mistake.

Nevertheless, he was able to find the real camp and managed to take one prisoner with him. At the rendezvous, Rambo was surprised when the helicopter flew away with Murdock’s direct command to abort the mission and both were caught.

Submerged in a septic pond filled with blood-sucking leeches, Rambo was interrogated who was in-charge of the mission. Electric shock followed, until he gave up after General Podovsky (Steven Berkoff) threatened him that he’d take the eyes off a POW. As he made the call, Rambo threatened Murdock and was able to escape with the help of Co.

As they prepared to go home, Co was killed by the pursuing Vietnamese soldiers and, taking revenge, Rambo decided to sweep the whole army and save the prisoners.

And so we witnessed Rambo’s ghostly jungle again as he made his way to the camp, killed all the soldiers and stole an enemy helicopter to take the POW’s home in a heart-stopping and action-packed battle of one versus thousands.

At the command center, Rambo stormed into Murdock’s office, gunned down the new technology that was supposed to help him in the mission and threatened Murdock to find the rest of the POW’s.

As Trautman amused John that he’d get another Presidential Award for the mission, the man of steel looked at the POW’s and told him they should have it.

Rambo’s final words:
“I want, what they want, and what every other guy who came over here and spilled his guts and gave everything he had, wants! For our country to love us, as much as we love it! That’s what I want!”
