After much talking about linguistics, Japanese scholarships and native languages, I had a nice dinner with practicing linguists Dr. Ricardo Ma. Nolasco and Dr. Naonori Nagaya after Mr. Naonori's lecture on the grammar of reduplication in Tagalog.
It was a very interesting lecture and we had a post-lecture during dinner at the University Hotel yesterday. Dr. Naonori was very engaging and talked a lot about other topics in linguistics while I shared my ongoing studies in T'boli and Bahasa-Indonesia Malaysia (BIM).
It was a productive and informative lecture-dinner with such practicing linguists that I could only learn outside the classroom.
