My dad couldn't believe how the big bout ended in a blink.
With shot guns and M16 firearms put at ease, the world once again froze with Pacman's legendary (and surprising) clash with 3-division world champion Shane "Sugar" Mosley at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas last May 8. And this time, my dad and I--ardent patriots of the boxing arena--need not endure the 10-minute commercials after watching its awesome live streaming yesterday at Yellow Cab, People Support, Makati City.
My dad was surprised at how the three preceeding fights ended so quickly and even enjoyed Jorge "Travieso" Arce's (one of Nonito Donaire's boxing foes) amazing 12-round clash with the equally strong-built Wilfredo Vazquez Jr. The most-awaited battle between the Deadly Southpaw and the unbeatable Sugar started at exactly 12NN. We all cheered when Pacquaio's envoy started marching with Jims Jamison's "Eye of the Tiger' song. My dad had a quick guess it would be one of Manny's songs though.
Charice Pempengco (Glee) beautifully sang the Philippine National Anthem, while Tyrese sang America's "Land of the Free". Jamie Foxx (Rio) also sang "America the Beautiful".
It was an amazing experience watching one of the most outstanding fights of a legendary boxing icon with famous bloggers, especially when they all shouted with joy everytime Pacman directly inflicted Sugar in the first rounds. The cheers were deafening when Sugar was hit and knocked down by one of Manny's deadly Southpaws in the third round. We all gasped when the Mexicutioner tumbled down in Round 10, and cursed when the slow-motion scenes showed how Mosley locked his right arm to Manny's left and pushed him hard enough to fall over.
While we watched the fight we were served with Yellow Cab's famous New York style cuisines. The crunchy tortilla chips (P120) were perfect with its sweet-spicy tomato salsa. The unmistakable Classic Spaghetti and Meatballs (P230), with its unique and original French-style sweet-sour taste baked and simmered in red wine tomato sauce went very well with the crunchy hot wings (P700/dozen with 2 dips) in its spicy wing sauce.
I enjoyed the Barbecue Chicken pizza (P550/14") topped with juicy chicken meat, sweet red onions, cilantro leaves in hickory and smoked barbeque cheese. They also served the Corona Chicken Salsa pizza (P550/14") with its Southern tomato salsa and lime for that unique sweet-sour sting.
After the fight, Nuffnang awarded four lucky winners for best blog post in the Pacman-Mosley fight with PLDT myDSL's awesome Big Ticket. My blog (Storms of Errport) was chosen as one of the Top 3 best blogs. We were given PLDT myDSL jackets and ID tags. Republikang Pinoy garnered champion and was awarded with a PLDT myDSL modem.
But the best prize I got was making my dad very happy watching the Pacman fight the fast and unique way. He said he was very proud of me because of my writing. He jokingly added I might surprise him again, not only winning exclusive tickets, but also cars from such contests, too--his biggest dream so far.
Thank you very much to Ms. Trixie Esguerra of Nuffnang, PLDT myDSL and Yellow Cab!
